An avid chef and entertainer, the owner had specific requirements for the area. The client requested an elegant kitchen in black and cream featuring a semicircular, functional island to mirror the bulkhead established by the architect in the house plans. An unusual feature of the kitchen is art encased within black lacquer alcoves at either end of the island. The idea was to use the art as the highlight – the centrepiece of the kitchen. The radius of the island introduces the radius of the splashback, which is two pieces of married glass and these in turn reflect the radius of the bulkhead..
